I recently had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Deck Chair Cruising, and I feel compelled to share my story to warn others about their deceptive practices. This cruise booking company appears to be running scams aimed at luring customers with enticing offers, only to betray their trust and leave them disappointed.
The modus operandi of Deck Chair Cruising involves sending out emails with seemingly irresistible cruise deals or tempting upgrade packages. However, unsuspecting customers like myself quickly discover that these offers are nothing more than a ploy to trap you into paying a deposit. Once you’ve taken the bait and made the initial payment, the true nature of their deceit unfolds.
Furthermore, In my friends’ cases, the agreed-upon price of the cruise was mysteriously increased to nearly double the originally quoted amount. This shocking price hike left him feeling cheated and deceived. It seems that Deck Chair Cruising uses these bait-and-switch tactics to lure customers into a false sense of security before springing the trap and demanding more money than initially agreed upon.
In my case, the promised upgrade package mentioned in their offer email turned out to be a mirage. Despite assurances in writing, the lucrative perks were conveniently omitted from the final booking. To add insult to injury, when I inquired about the missing package, I was informed that I could obtain it by paying an additional fee—a classic example of false advertising and deceptive business practices. When I contacted their support number for a refund, the person on the other end (named Matthew) arrogantly refused to process a refund for the deposit. He asserted that the deposit was forwarded to the cruise company. When I mentioned that the cruise company had informed me that they wouldn’t charge anything for a booking made less than 54 days in advance (ours was just one day), the individual conveniently informed me, “Sorry, we cannot issue a refund.” And disconnected the call.
What’s truly disheartening is that I had heard cautionary tales from others about Deck Chair Cruising’s unscrupulous practices, but against my better judgment, I became a victim of their scam. Now, I find myself embroiled in a dispute with my credit card company to rectify the situation and recoup my losses.
I also posted a review on Google and Facebook detailing my experience with “Deck Chair Cruising.” Unfortunately, the company has since deleted my review. I find this action concerning and have raised a ticket with Google to review and reinstate my comment. Transparency and trust are vital in customer reviews, and I believe it’s important that genuine experiences, both positive and negative, are shared openly. I appreciate Google’s commitment to maintaining a trustworthy review platform.
Finally, My sincere advice to anyone considering booking with Deck Chair Cruising is to steer clear of this company. Don’t be swayed by their seemingly attractive offers, as they are nothing more than a façade for a deceitful operation. Protect yourself and your hard-earned money by choosing a reputable cruise-booking company with a proven track record of honesty and integrity. Deck Chair Cruising may promise smooth sailing, but it’s a journey straight into the turbulent waters of deception and disappointment.
Shame on you, #deckchaircrusing, Deck Chair Cruising., DeckChairCruising
