Extremely Disappointing Experience at Specsavers Mt Druitt — Avoid at All Costs!

I’ve been using Specsavers Mt Druitt (Westfield Mall) for the past 4–5 years, and honestly, I never had any complaints before. The old staff were wonderful — polite, professional, and genuinely helpful. It used to feel like a well-run, customer-friendly place where your eye health actually mattered. BUT… something clearly went downhill fast. It honestly feels like someone new took over or something within the team shifted — because ever since, the place has lost all the care and professionalism it once had. What used to be a trusted Centre has become a source of stress and frustration.

The first disaster? We never received the glasses we ordered for my wife. We waited patiently — first for weeks, then months… and before we knew it, nearly a year had passed. When we finally visited the store to ask about it, we were greeted by a bald, dark-skinned Indian guy who casually told us, “Oh, they were returned because no one came to collect them.”
what?! Not once did anyone call, message, or email us to pick them up — and when we asked him why we weren’t contacted, he just stood there clueless.

The New Optometrist (I will put her name soon) – More Drama, Less Diagnosis: When I visited in Sept–Oct 2024, I was introduced to a new optometrist. Within seconds of seeing her at the Centre and observing how she was interacting with her client, I had a gut feeling that this wasn’t going to go well — and wow, was I right. She was: rude from the get-go, in a hurry like she had a rocket to catch, and absolutely lacking any warmth or professionalism you’d expect from a healthcare provider. I even went to the reception and asked if another optometrist was available. They said, “we don’t have any other optometrist,” so I had no other option but to continue with her.

10-Minute Checkup of Doom (Spoiler: All horror): First of all, she was rude as hell. In less than 10 minutes, she told me my eyes had major issues, red marks, and that I needed to rush back next week for urgent follow-up with more medical tests. So urgent, in fact, that I had to cancel a pre-planned trip to attend. Guess what… “There’s nothing wrong with your eyes.” Even when I told them about the earlier diagnosis, the second optometrist double-checked everything — and confirmed that nothing was wrong. It was either a “technical error” or some other nonsense.

Around Six months later, I went again for my regular checkup. Guess who I ran into again? Yep — Ms. Disaster-in-a-Coat. She was again the only optometrist available, rude as hell, and acted like I was wasting her precious time. This time, when I told the reception that I wasn’t happy with the service, instead of trying to help like they used to, I was told: “If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.

The Rude Showdown: We had booked appointments for my entire family, arrived promptly, and yet were still blamed for keeping them late — as if we were doing them a favor just by showing up. To make matters worse, they previously messed up our glasses order and never delivered them. This time, they charged an outrageous amount for my daughter’s glasses. When we politely questioned the incorrect charges, instead of apologizing or providing any explanation, they responded with outright hostility — cursing and yelling at us like we were the problem. What’s worse, for the past year, they’ve consistently tried to push the highest-cost items, hide any discounts, and deliberately put wrong amounts on the bills. When I mentioned I’d leave a review, this lady had the audacity to say, “Go ahead. We’re not scared of your feedback. I’ll wait for it.”. I will also be sharing this experience on my blog to raise awareness and ensure more people know about the misconduct and poor service happening at this Centre.

Specsavers Mt Druitt has become a one-woman horror show. They treat you well only if you say YES to everything and don’t ask questions. But the moment you question anything — whether it’s a bill, diagnosis, or missing item — you’re suddenly the problem.

I’m never going back, and I strongly recommend anyone who values real care and service to avoid this place. Trust me — if your eyes truly matter to you, don’t risk them here. Take your business elsewhere, where you’ll be treated with the care, respect, and professionalism you deserve. Your vision is too precious to gamble on poor service and empty promises.

Note: I will share the name of the lady Optometrist soon.
